Even as a young girl, Ally was always full of energy and excitement. Not hard considering she grew up in Port Macquarie, a sunny seaside town on the east coast of Australia. Who wouldn't love life with a beautiful blue ocean and wonderful soft, pale yellow sand to play in every day?
Along with a love of the sea, Ally developed a voracious appetite for reading. She would read children's books in every spare moment she had.
In April 2003, Ally finally got the chance to follow her lifelong dream of becoming a children's author by studying and obtaining a diploma in professional children's writing from the Australian College of Journalism.
Since that time, she has joined the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI), the Queensland Writers Centre and many other writing related groups around the world.
In 2006, Ally joined the CYA Conference group and soon after became a coordinator. The conference is held annually and is for professional development aimed at adults who write and illustrate for children and young adults.
Still energetic and enthusiastic about life at the age of 36, Ally divides her time between a writing career, her wonderful husband of 15 years, three beautiful children, a dog, nine chickens and a plethora of unwanted cane toads.
Ally currently lives in Brisbane, Australia.
