My Life
Even as a young girl, I was always full of energy and excitement. Not hard, I suppose when I grew up in a sunny seaside town. Who wouldn't love life with a beautiful bluest of blue ocean, so clear you can see all the way to the bottom and wonderfully soft, pale yellow sand to play in every day???
Along with a love of the sea, I developed a voracious appetite for reading. I would read kids books in every spare moment I had, and on any topic.
As I grew up, my dream was to become a children's writer, but school, then marriage to my childhood sweetheart and then having children was a priority and those dreams fell by the wayside.

Where I live, we are in a 100 year drought, so when it rains, it's something to celebrate and my family all go out and dance in it.

It wasnt until April 2003 that I finally got that chance. Determined to give my writing career the best start possible, I studied and obtained a Diploma in professional children's writing from the Australian College of Journalism.
Since that time, I have joined the Society of Childrens Book Writers and Illustrators, the Queensland Writers Centre and many other writers groups around the world.
In 2006 I joined the CYA Conference group and soon after, became a coordinator. This year, the conference aimed specifically at providing knowledge and skills development among children's writers and illustrators across Australia, is sure to be even bigger and better than the last.
Still energetic and enthusiastic about life, even at the age of 33, I divide my time between a writing career and running after my wonderful husband of eleven years, my three beautiful children, two dogs, 5 chickens, a pet duck and heaps of unwanted cane toads....
